Telecaster is around for six decades, and it ages like the finest wine. 2012 American Standard Series overhaul rejuvenated the Tele even more. Brand new set of pickups and contoured back, along with other changes make this one of the most desirable Teles ever produced. It has been introduced by Fender at 2012 Frankfurt Musikmesse. 2012 American Standard Telecaster comes with a standard Tele shaped, single cutaway body made of alder. One of the most prominent novelties for Tele is the belly contour on the back instead of the plain old slab-like back. Classical Telecaster white plastic pickguard is still here, along with a modified Telecaster bridge with chrome plating and string-through construction. In the pickups area, this model features two single coil pickups in S/S pattern. The bridge pickup is slanted as it is the traditional feature. Custom Shop Broadcaster is placed in the bridge and Custom Shop Twisted Tele single coil is in the neck position. Controls consist of standard features: master volume, master tone and a three-position blade switch. The neck is made of maple and equipped with a C contour. It is bolted to the body with a four-bolt joint. The fingerboard can be made either of maple or rosewood. Either way, the specs are identical: 22 medium jumbo frets, dot position inlays and 1.685" wide synthetic bone nut. 25-1/2" scale, chrome plated hardware and aged plastic parts complete the list of specs. The MSRP for 2012 American Standard Telecaster goes between $1,529.99 and $1,699.99.
