Yngwie J Malmsteen is a man and player who is hard to describe in just a few words. His lifestyle and playing style have much in common. They`re both big, monumental, epic, excessive, successful, flamboyant and rich. Controversial, with quick and sharp tongue and even quicker and sharper chops, Yngwie is one of the originators and still the reigning king of neo-classical style of shred metal. His signature Stratocaster is famous around the world for it`s single-coil pickups, scalloped frets and yellowish color. But, probably the most amazing is the fact that Yngwie`s Strat has only 21 frets, while the majority of shredders play on 22, 24 or even more frets. Guitars with multiple necks are also becoming a common thing. Anyhow, Mr Malmsteen`s Tribute Strat from Fender Custom Shop is solid, double-cut guitar with six-string construction and bolted maple neck. Body is made of alder. Non-locking tremolo bridge is also one of the "unusual" features of Yngwie`s style.
