California has the biggest and the strongest, most massive thrash metal scene in the world. It was, and still is, home to the founding bands such as Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, etc. Also, some of the hottest young bands hail from California. Surviving for over thirty years in the top league of the biggest and most popular sub-genre of extreme metal, Exodus and Gary Holt have more than earned their legendary status among the fellow musicians and fans around the world. Throughout his career with Exodus, and lately Slayer, Gary has built a reputation of superbly tight rhythm player and insanely fast soloist. After several signature series and endorsement stints with other brands, Gary is, finally, joining ESP for 2015. His line is a typical starter line with an exclusive ESP signature, LTD 600 and LTD 200 level models. LTD GH-200 is the series opener and the most affordable option on the roster. It comes with a solid and single-cut EC body made entirely of basswood. It has a carved top with red binding. Both the binding color and the body/neck/headstock paint job are inherited from the intermediate GH-600. Licensed Floyd Rose trem and ESP Designed humbucking pickups are featured on the top (there is no push/pull switch on the cheapest Gary Holt guitar). This simple six-string rocker features a bolt-on maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on top (rosewood replaces ebony and maple substitutes mahogany on GH-200).
