LTD Distressed is an independent range within the ESP catalog. It is made up of several series, such as EC, ST and TE. All of them are small, featuring only a handful of models. Main characteristic of this range is the distressed finish applied on bodies, necks and hardware. EC-256 is one of few LTD Distressed models. It comes with a solid and single-cut body made of mahogany back and flamed maple top (this is the most classic combo for all LP and LP-based models in the industry). Aged Vintage Black, Aged Honey Burst, Distressed 2-tone Sunburst and Aged Vintage Gold are color schemes assigned to this model. ESP LH-150 humbuckers are installed on the top. Mahogany neck is set in and is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.

I already have a few guitars. I play mostly rock n roll, like Motley, Metallica, Van Halen, Satriani and the like going all back to Hendrix. All of my guitars have Floyd Rose tremolos and I wanted to jam out on one with a tremolo unit. And I had some extra cash so I went to buy a Les Paul. After playing the LP< I decided to give this one a ride. I was shocked at easy the decision to get this LTD was over the LP. I could go on and on technically why I love this guitar but I'll speak str8 here. The feel. I connected to this guitar. The tone, the sustain this guitar had, made me feel like I sounded better, more in tune with the guitar. I swear to Holy Jesus this one guitar was built for me and the stars lined up and it was the right time of the day and I walked in at the right time. I've never felt this way about a guitar, a woman, anything. I own other guitars that I Like, but I love this one. When I go to play a guitar, I always pick this one up first. And I only feel slightly bad I leave my Ibanez's in the corner. Hey, they should of won me over like this one did right? Again, I could go on and on, but this guitar's neck felt awesome in my hands. The notes sang with me. Chords hit easier and rang true. Just awesome. I never had a connection like this before. And I am looking to upgrade my acoustic now and I know I wont get one unless I have this same feeling. And I already spent two days at the local shop and will be heading out to another this wkend searching for the same feeling.. Like I said, I had a couple grand and had full intention to go and buy a Les Paul and this thing changed my mind. For just $400. And I was ready to spend 5 times that or more. It loves me, so I love it!

I own the gold top model. Absolutely awesome guitar. If you try to analyze the wear and tear on the finish you bought the guitar for the wrong reasons. I bought one so I could jam without the fear of dinging/scratching it. It has that preowned Mojo without the price tag.The beast is meant to be played! THE BEST NECK AND FRETWORK ON A GUITAR IN THIS PRICE RANGE PERIOD! Fast and slick! Great job ESP. The electronics are good but I feel an upgrade is in order. A set of Duncans or Dimarzios in your favorite flavor will take the EC-256 to a whole other level!
