Explorer Electric Guitars by Epiphone

Ltd Ed Korina Explorer by Epiphone
Antique Natural

The legendary Explorer we know today, was just one of three oddly shaped, futuristic guitars Gibson introduced back in 1958. Experts claim that the initial production run of the out-of-this-world Explorer was less than 50 units (sold between 1958 and 1963). After that, Explorer was, together with the Flying V, shelved and Gibson returned to its more traditional models. After a small limited edition run in 1976, Explorer II was introduced in 1979 and Explorer was here to stay. Hard rock and metal guitarists around the world embraced the angular rebel and, together with the revived Flying V, it became one of symbols of the rising metal scene. Ltd Ed Korina Explorer is a nod to the original 1958 Explorer which featured all-korina flat-top body (a concept diametrically opposed to the late 50`s Gibson philosophy). Just like the original, this Ltd Ed comes in with an all-korina body, and a korina neck to boot. Antique Natural is the only color scheme available, and it`s complemented with black plastics and gold-plated nickel hardware. Slim taper-shaped korina neck is glued to the body and sports the classic hockey stick headstock with six in-line Mini Rotomatic Grover tuners. 22-fret rosewood fingerboard completes the neck. Epiphone`s Alnico Classic pickups deliver a vintage/modern tone, designed in the vein of the classic PAF humbuckers, with boosted mids and highs. Two volume knobs, one tone and a three-way pickup switch complete the controls unit. Following the Explorer tradition, this exclusive korina axe rocks a two-piece LockTone bridge and top hat knobs.
