Limited Edition Bjorn Gelotte Les Paul Custom Outfit is finally here. One of the best guitars of this summer and most anticipated signatures in metal world has finally arrived. It is Bjorn`s very first signature Les Paul and it already seems like he has been Epiphone/Gibson signature artist for years. Classic ebony/gold color scheme true to the original LP Custom models, heavy duty electronics and Epiphone`s well known build quality are some of the hallmarks of this incredible metal beast.
Bjorn Gelotte Les Paul Custom Outfit kicks off with a mahogany-made body with single cutaway, carved top and set neck joint. There is no maple top expected on a Les Paul with the prestigious Custom label, instead mahogany is used. This gives a bit beefier and warmer tone perfect for the down-tuned metal riffs and epic melodies which made In Flames a cult band and a pioneer of melodic death metal. Ebony outfit with golden hardware and creme binding around the edges (of the body, neck and headstock) is a nod to the guitar which started it all in the fifties.
Set-in neck is attached through the standard mortise and tenon joint and rocks the rounded `59 profile deemed by a vast majority of LP players out there as the best one king of single-cuts ever had. On its top, Epiphone has opted for an ebony fingerboard with 22 frets, despite the general move towards rosewood fingerboard among the Gibson brands. 1.68" ivory/PVC nut, 12" radius and block inlays complete the fingerboard.
In the electronics department, Bjorn and Epiphone went straight for the heavy artillery - EMG`s 81 USA Metalworks in the bridge and 85 USA Metalworks in the neck. These guns are concealed with gold-plated covers and accompanied by a standard LP controls unit.
Hardware section is equipped with a non-rotating 1/4" input jack, Locktone`s Nashville-Style tune-o-matic/stopbar bridge combo and ubiquitous Grover Rotomatics with 18:1 gear ratio.
With a price tag of around $800, Limited Edition Bjorn Gelotte Les Paul Custom Outfit is an absolute steal.
