Epiphone, as the subsidiary brand of Gibson Guitars produces models which cater to the lower portion of the market. These models are based upon the original Gibson`s models. Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top is basically the Epiphone`s Les Paul Standard with a flamed maple top with creme binding. The body is solid and made of mahogany. Pickup department is equipped with two Alnico Classic humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions. The pickups are controlled through the split volume and tone controls, and a three-way toggle switch. The neck is made of mahogany with a slim taper contour and glued in mortise and tenon joint. Fingerboard is made of rosewood and has 22 frets, trapezoid inlays and 1-11/16" wide synthetic bone nut. This model costs around $500.
