Century is one of the classic features of Epiphone catalog, with its roots reaching back to 1930s. Back then, Century was an archtop acoustic guitar, one of the finest on the market. Fast forward to 1957 - Epiphone`s union with Gibson has, among other things, resulted in the revival of the classic Century model. But, now, it was a hollow-bodied electric guitar with an arched top and active electronics. It was a popular option and a sound alternative to Epiphone`s Casino and Gibson`s 335, only a bit smaller. Inspired by 1966 Century is a brand new model, introduced for 2016 summer NAMM. It kicks off with a completely hollow archtop body without a cutaway. Back, sides and the top are all made of laminated maple (like on the original 1966 Century model). Back and top are bound in aged creme binding and the top features a pair of "f" holes. A detachable plastic pickguard with Epiphone logo is also present. Aged Gloss Vintage Sunburst and Aged Gloss Cherry color options are available. Both of them rock aged nickel hardware. The neck on the new 1966 Century is made of mahogany and it features a rounded C profile in the back. on its top, there is a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with medium frets, pearloid dot inlays and 1.65" nylon nut. Epiphone P-90 pickup sits in the neck position and offers the classic fat single-coil growl, as well as some of the richest clean tones. Wooden bridge with trapezoid tailpiece and vintage-styled Epiphone tuners complete the specs list.
