One single coil neck pickup, one humbucker bridge pickup with push pull coil tap switch. Single volume and tone controls. The coil tap really makes it ring. Out of the box I was very impressed with the finishes and the workmanship. The red is microflake sparkle, the white perloid headstock, pickguard, star shaped fret inlays, and tuning pegs are beautiful, the frets are absolutely uniform, level, and flush on the edges of the neck. The action and intonation out of the box was perfect. And then white racing strips? Oh yeah baby. This is a very blingy guitar. You will be noticed. Are you worthy? So why not 10? I'm not certain I love the pickups. I like them, but I end up doing the coil tap and cranking the tone knob to 10 to get the chime I like. The humbucker with both coils sounds a little more midrangey and that's not what you buy a 12 string for. This is a minor nit though. This is my first DiPinto guitar - I had never heard of them before. I don't think it will be my last. Everything about this guitar impresses me. For a sub $1000 12 string electric you can't really go wrong. I would gig with this guitar for sure. It feels solid. It holds its tuning very well - which is a huge deal for a 12 string. I would also replace it in a heartbeat if it were stolen. I'm very confused by the other review. "Not that bad"? This is my ninth guitar and already one of my favorites. It is a bit of a specialty instrument, true. However I could totally play an entire regular gig with just this guitar. It even solos well which says a lot for playability in a 12 string.
