When it comes to 8-string guitars options are pretty limited, especially in sub $500 region. There are several models, but some of them are not much more than beginner guitars with extra strings and big pickups. On the other hand, B.C. Rich`s Villain Escape 8 is a real bomb. It kicks off with a standard double-cut body/bolt on neck chassis. Black paint job with black hardware, passive electronics and in-house hardware complete this beast. The body is made of basswood (of course) and the neck is made of maple (double of course here). 24-fret rosewood fingerboard sits on top of the neck. Extended range BDSM humbuckers are actually very good in the lowest regions which is a huge plus (cheap pickups on cheap eight-strings tend to be muddy somewhat weak on the low side). Fixed string-through bridge and B.C. Rich tuners complete the specs list.
