Schecter Omen Solo-6 2012 Review

Schecter`s Omen series encompasses more than double cutaway soloist shaped models. Omen Solo-6 2012 is a single cutaway model with design features reminiscent of the legendary Les Paul. Nevertheless, this one is a true Schecter metal beast with a decent budget price. As part of the Omen series, this model has a majority of features in common with other Omens. It comes with a solid basswood body with a single cutaway and carved top. The top features two types of binding, black and ivory, depending on the color option a player decides to go for. These options are black gloss, vintage white gloss and walnut satin. The bridge department is made up of a black chrome plated tune-o-matic bridge with six string saddles and string-through-body construction. As it is common to all Omens, this model also sports a pair of passive Schecter Diamond Plus humbuckers. They are manipulated with master tone knob, master volume knob and a three-way toggle pickup switch. More expensive series can even include push-pull system for these pickups. The neck is made of maple and attached to the body via the bolt-on joint. The rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 22 extra jumbo frets and pearloid semi-gothic position inlays. This model features a somewhat shorter scale than the double cutaway six-stringers, it measures 24-3/4" in length. The MSRP for Omen Solo-6 2012 is set at $449.
