It feels that Gibson could have done better with SG Special Ltd., but still, this is a useful musical instrument. You should really give SG Special Ltd. a chance if you feel that this is a right instrument for you in this moment in time.

Gibson could throw in a bit more features into SG Special Ltd. but this guitar is definitely a usable musical instrument. Whether it's the price cut, or Gibson felt that simplicity is a good way to go, SG Special Ltd. is built with a limited set of features, so one needs see if it fits the need. Not the best equipped instrument, but SG Special Ltd. will do well for some musicians.

If you try playing SG Special Ltd. after an average guitar, it becomes obvious that this Gibson deserves to be proud of making it sound so beautifully. It delivers great tone when plugged in to most amps and, versatile as it is, it will allow you to find your own tone that you will be proud of as well. Gibson's SG Special Ltd. is surely a world class sounding instrument.

You could find a better fitted guitar, but SG Special Ltd. is ready to be played by any musician willing to take time and adjust it to his/her needs. Gibson built a guitar that has nice finish but it lacks something that would make it feel even better. Guitar stays in tune reasonably well, if you don't force it too much, and the SG Special Ltd.'s neck is playable.

If you're happy with Gibson's SG Special Ltd. overall performance and characteristics, you can consider it to be a replacement guitar for your gigs. Even if used as only guitar SG Special Ltd. will perform, but don't overrate it and always try and find a backup. It is a solid guitar that will last long and perform well if you treat it right.
