Les Paul and SG (EB) basses have been around for decades and are, along with Thunderbird and Tobias, Gibson`s most successful and prominent bass concepts. T`bird and Toby are made for players who play full-scaled basses, while the LP and EB cater to the short-scale bass players. In 2016 catalog, Gibson Memphis includes one LP bass model, an ES (semi hollow) LP four-string. It costs $3,499 and delivers a stunning tone, hybrid semi-solid construction and unsurpassed build quality. 2016 ES-Les Paul Bass comes with the traditionally shaped single-cut body and a one-piece neck attached at 15th fret. Back, sides and top of the body are all made of three-ply maple/poplar/maple laminates. Center block is made of solid maple and bracing is Adirondack spruce. C-shaped mahogany neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard (1.765" bone nut, 12" radius and trapezoid inlays). Bass version of Gibson`s popular HMS humbuckers with uneven coils is featured on this marvel. Two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way toggle switch comprise the controls unit. Two-piece bridge unit and Hipshot tuners complete the specs list.
