Okoume is playing a rather big role in this year`s bass lineup, as it is the main body wood of the Deluxe series models for 2015. Three models have been introduced at NAMM and Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V Okume is the only five stringer among them. It comes with a solid and double-cut Jazz Bass body with stripped down styling and classic construction. Entire flat-top body is made of the okoume (Fender spells it okoume, though okume and some other name variants for this rather obscure African tonewood can be found around the market) which gives a strong, bright and very responsive, lively tone. In that respect, it is very close to maple. On the top, Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V Okoume features a five-saddled Hi Mass bridge with chrome-plated zinc saddles and a pair of Dual-Coil Ceramic Noiseless™ pickups - one in the bridge and the other inthe middle position. Controls unit installed along with these pickups, consists of the master volume knob, pickup pan control and a three-band active EQ (bass boost/cut, mid boost/cut and treble boost/cut). Maple neck on this model is fit with a modern C profile in the back and a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top. Neck is, like the body, finished in gloss (neck features urethane gloss, while the body has the polyester gloss finish). Set of Fender`s die-cast mini tuners installed on the headstock rounds off the major specs list.
