The American Standard series set the bar for years for other brands and their models what a guitar needs to be considered American Standard. For 2012 Fender raises that bar with the infusion of Fender Custom Shop pickup into their American Standard line. All of the models have received this treatment. Twelve models are currently available, five guitars and seven basses. Across these twelve models, Fender`s big four is represented, including Telecaster, Stratocaster, Jazz and Precision. 2012 American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless comes with a standard offset-waist contour with a double cutaway. The body of this Jazz Bass is made of alder and it features no top wood covers or bindings of any kind. There is still the classic Jazz Bass pickguard. It is made of plastic and comes in two colors, depending on the body color option. White pickguard is installed on black colored body, and red on three-color sunburst option. Both color options come with gloss finish. The bridge is Fender`s own High Mass Vintage bass bridge with four saddles. It is plated in chrome and available in two options: top-load or string-through construction. In the pickup department, there`s a standard configuration of two jazz-styled pickups. These are provided by Fender Custom Shop and are Custom Shop '60s Jazz Bass® pickups. They are controlled through a standard Jazz setup of master tone and split volume knobs. The neck on this model is, according to tradition, made of maple and equipped with a C contour. A modern C contour in this case. Posiflex graphite truss rods reinforce this bolted neck. The fingerboard on this fretless Jazz is made of rosewood and it features no position inlays. 9.50 " radius and 1.50" wide synthetic bone nut are standard features of Fender`s four-string basses. Other features on this model include 34" scale, chrome plated hardware and rolled fingerboard edges. The MSRP for 2012 American Standard Jazz Bass Fretless is set at $1,749.99.
