Surveyor 405 QM is in every respect the same model as the Surveyor 405, but with only one distinction. 405 QM model has a quilt maple top, while the regular 405 does not. Bodies of both models are made of ash and paired with maple necks through bolt-on joints. Flat-top design, deep cutaways and identical hardware configurations are also featured on these intermediate five-stringers. 405 QM was envisioned as a more attractive and more elegant sibling of the standard 405, while the standard 405 is a working bee of the family and caters to players who are strongly oriented towards tone and performance. Maple neck on this model is fit with a series standard U contour in the back and is topped with a 21-fret fingerboard.
