As the only east coast band within the big four of thrash metal, Anthrax is also a representative of a slightly different kind of thrash, a more percussive and hard-core oriented style. Just like their Frisco Bay counterparts, Anthrax kicked off in the classic NWOBHM-driven manner, but soon developed their own, east coast type of thrash metal with rap-like vocals and more hard core punk-influenced style of riffs. On all of their albums (except the first one) Frank Bello performed the bass duties, helping to shape east coast style of thrash. An avid fan and player of ESP basses since the earliest days of Anthrax, Frank Bello is one of the biggest names on the four-string side of the ESP signature artist family. His ESP Frank Bello signature bass for 2015 is a solid, double-cut bass with a vintage contour and bolt-on construction. Its made of alder and features a flat top, as well as Precision-like styling. Top-load bridge features four adjustable. chrome-plated saddles. In front of the bridge, active EMG JX/PX set of pickups is installed. Master volume, balance knob and master tone comprise the controls. Maple neck features the original U profile in the back and a 21-fret ebony fingerboard on top. Graphite nut (1.65" wide), pearl block inlays and extra jumbo frets complete the fingerboard. Set of vintage-styled Gotoh tuning machines completes this marvelous four-stringer.
