With new crossover models in the Luthier series, Cordoba attempts to attract and possibly convert the players of steel-stringed acoustics. These upscale nylon-stringers feature the classical design and styling in combination with some of the steel-string construction appointments. One of the new hybrid models is the beautiful C-9 crossover. It comes with a full-sized classical body with non-cutaway design. Back and sides of this model are made of solid mahogany, while the top is made of Canadian cedar, also solid. Bracing pattern used on the inside is the classic fan pattern (one of the best patterns to use with mahogany/cedar combination of tonewoods) Top is decorated with Indian rosewood binding and a gorgeous classical rosette. Bridge is the standard classical with bone saddle on top. There are no piezo pickups installed beneath the saddle, nor the C-9 Crossover has a side-mounted preamp. Neck is made of mahogany, like the body. It comes with a standard contour in the back and a standard 12th fret dovetail joint. On it`s top, there`s a 19-fret fingerboard with a wide radius (it is not flat, like the majority of fingerboards on classical guitars). Also, it has a narrower string nut (1-7/8" wide).
