Fender`s acoustics department has played a major role in the industry since the brand`s early days. Within this department, Classic Design Series has yielded many great models over the years, and 2012 brings an updated CD-140SCE. Judging by this novelty, Fender is bound to stay among the leaders for years to come. CD-140SCE is a cutaway dreadnought model with a body made of laminated mahogany back and sides and solid spruce top. The top is bound in pearloid binding and features a classic shaped pickguard. Mother-of-pearl rosette graces the sound hole. This dread comes in black and natural. Both options are available with gloss finish. The bridge on this model is made of rosewood and features white string pins with synthetic bone saddle. In the electronics department, Fishman Presys Pickup system takes care of amplification. Active pre-amp features an on-board control panel with equalizer and tuner. The neck is made of mahogany and is attached to the body with a dovetail joint. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and is equipped with 20 frets, dot position inlays and 1.69" wide synthetic bone nut. The MSRP for CD-140SCE is set at $429.99 for both the black and natural color options.
