The NCX2000r is an amazing piece of engineering. The tone is balanced and pure. The feel is easy and super comfortable. The neck width is slightly wider for easier playability for chordal work. The wood allows the tone to resonate and leave a lovely tail after each note or chord. I would recommend this guitar to anyone in the contemporary genre.

I recently purchased the Yamaha NCX2000R and one of the first things I did was replace the tuning pegs that came with the guitar to Sloane. I have purchased a number of sets of Gotoh premium tuning pegs and was a bit disappointed with the Sloane's. Basically I felt that the Sloane were not a good value. You can't replace the knobs on the Sloane and I paid $303.95 delivered for the Sloane. The premium Gotoh tuning pegs allow for replacement of the knobs which adds some flare to their look because of the brass located under the knobs. The other thing that I did was contact Yamaha and spoke with a very knowledgeable tech. I purchased a set of expensive nut files and I also bought about 20 finger nail boards to work the saddle down for a lower action. I purchased a good set of feeler gauges and worked the saddle down until I was getting the right Numbers on the 8th fret based on recommendations from the excellent tech. Apparently, the Yamaha NCX2000R ships for flamenco style players that prefer a higher action as I understood it. I was trying to match the action on my Takamine EC 132C. My action on the Yamaha NCX2000R is just a bit higher than the Takamine but close enough. I also found that the neck was a bit larger on the Yamaha NCX2000R. I've been using the Yamaha NCX2000R for practice exclusively now for about 6 weeks and have grown accustomed to the small differences. I had previously owned a hand made Yamaha classical guitar and the sound is great. I've been playing piano style guitar now for about 50 years and I think that Yamaha makes the best classical guitars money can buy, they have great engineering combined with very deep pockets that they couple with their artistic side of the house. I also own Cubase for studio recording which is owned by Yamaha as well as their analog to digital MR816. All and all, Yamaha is heavily invested in the music industry and have developed unique protected technologies for manufacturing outstanding classical guitars. The MSRP on their top of the line concert level guitars is around $20K. Individual classical guitar makers, in my opinion, can't compete with Yamaha for a number of reasons. They don't have the deep pockets or engineering to build at the level of Yamaha and must charge significantly more money for their instruments because of their production output. I'm a mechanical engineer and I can appreciate how Yamaha works to take advantage of all of the scientific breakthroughs they have made regarding their building of high quality classical guitars.
