D351 is a fully acoustic dreadnought which comes from the Standard 300 series in the Steel String division of Walden catalog. The Standard line models aim to become a serious competition in the segment of the reasonably priced guitars and to dethrone current leading brands. D351 has a non-cutaway body made entirely of mahogany. The top is bound in black on natural and in white on black, red and blue color options. All options come with transparent satin finishes. This kind of finish is exceptionally good as it allows the wood to breathe. The neck is made of mahogany and is attached to the body with a dovetail joint. The rosewood fingerboard sitting on top of it features 20 frets, dot position inlays and 1-11/16" wide fossalite string nut.

This was purchased as an entry level guitar for my 16 year old son. As an experienced player and part time teacher, I have seen many budget brand guitars. This is a very good one. The dreadnaught sized Walden D351SR (I believe the "R" is for red) is a well made guitar. It is all laminate construction, which means my son won't have to worry about keeping the guitar humidified and laminates are definitely more resistant to cracks and breakage. Like other guitar makers, Walden lowers production costs by including the cheapest strings possible. After replacing the original strings, this is a surprisingly good sounding guitar for this price level. The tuners are smooth, playability is very good, especially after a small tweak of the truss rod. Highly recommended budget guitar!
