528 is the grand orchestra model from the 500 series made by Taylor Guitars. 500 models, when compared to the rest of the Taylor catalog, are intermediate guitars with solid wood construction and Taylor electronics and hardware. But, when one compares Taylor`s 500 models to the rest of the market, it becomes clear that even the 500 series is an upscale line. This series usually offers acoustic-electric guitars with single-cut bodies and Taylor Expression electronics. They come in five shapes: dreadnought, grand concert, grand auditorium, grand symphony and grand orchestra. For summer 2013, Taylor introduces five new models with all-mahogany construction. These five feature the same body shapes as the original five models. Also, all five novelties are fully acoustic and feature non-cutaway bodies. 528 model is a grand orchestra guitar with six-string construction and the classic 14th fret neck joint. Back, sides and top are made of mahogany, as is the neck. Ivoroid binding can be seen around the body top, ebony fingerboard and the sound hole (single-circle ivoroid rosette). Ebony is also used on this model (belly-shaped bridge and 20-fret fingerboard). TUSQ saddle on the bridge and nut on the fingerboard are exactly 25-1/2 inches apart. Taylor tuners, combined gloss/satin finish and century fingerboard inlays complete the specs list.
