400 series is a luxurious line of all-solid acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars, located in the middle of Taylor`s standard acoustic range (100, 200, and 300 series are located below it, and 500, 600, 700, 800, and 900 above it). Prices start at around $2,000 and the 400 models can be customized according to each player`s wishes and preferences. 458e-R is one of two series` twelve-string models. It is mainly made in Natural and the starting price is set at $2,199. Main features include an all-solid grand orchestra body (rosewood back/sides, Sitka spruce top, white binding), a mahogany neck (satin finish, Taylor contour, 14th fret dovetail joint), a 20-fret ebony fingerboard (dot inlays, 25.5" scale, 1.875" nut), an ebony bridge, the famous ES2 electronics system, and Taylor tuners.
