P3DC-12 is Pro Series 3`s twelve stringer and it`s derived from the series` basic model, P3D dreadnought. These two are pretty much the same, with two major differences being the existence of Venetian cutaway and second set of strings on P3DC-12. This twelve-stringer shares majority of it`s features with the rest of the series` models. Thus the sapele back and sides in combination with spruce sound board on top. Construction-wise, this body features scalloped X bracing and dovetail joint for the neck. Natural color of the wood is left as the only color option available. Satin finish is applied across the models of Pro Series 3 line. Bridge on P3DC-12 is made of rosewood and it features split bone saddle with black string pins. In the electronics area, Takamine installs some their own equipment. Palathetic pickup and CT4B II preamp are both made by Takamine. This combo is standard for both the Pro Series 1 and Pro Series 3 models. African mahogany is one of Takamine`s favorite neck wood options and these series are no exception. Rosewood fingerboard on P3DC-12 is equipped with 20 frets, white dot inlays and bone saddle. Headstock is equipped with a set of six gold-plated tuners in three-a-side arrangement.
