Takamine GN93

G90 Acoustic-Electric Guitars by Takamine

GN93 by Takamine
Natural

GN93 is one of six models in the current lineup of the Takamine G90 series. G90 is the top line of the G segment of the Takamine catalog and acts as the cohesive between the upscale Pro Series models and the amateur player-oriented G series. GN93 is an intermediate guitar with a non-cutaway NEX body made of rosewood and spruce. Three-piece rosewood back has a quilt maple center, while the sides are made entirely of rosewood. On the top, there is a spruce sound board. GN93 has no electronics installed, nor Takamine offers them as option. Elegant binding, tortoise shell pickguard and a triple circle rosette decorate the top of this magnificent NEX. Neck is made of mahogany and is topped with a series standard 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.

This is the second Takamine acoustic guitar I have owned. The first was a much higher spec Takamine EAN10C which was a beautiful guitar but I always found the body slightly too wide to be comfortable. Having had this GN93 for 2 or 3 weeks now I love it! I knew in the shop once I started playing it that it’s the 1 for me. It plays really nicely with that 12” radius and in the store it sounded quite bright. But since putting Elixir strings on it sounds amazing with a beautiful rich tone. Yes I’m sure some people may not like that it doesn’t have built in electronics but for me I like that as I don’t need them. If you do just get a good quality mic and mic it up. The design on the back is amazing and the gold hardware in my opinion looks better than the silver. The body isn’t as big as the 1 I had to sell last year so it feels much more comfortable to play yet none of that deep rich tone has been lost. For me Takamine is up there with the likes of Martin etc for their acoustic guitars as they are always beautifully made with no flaws. Great quality materials and details that I’m still only just noticing 3 weeks after buying the thing. Find a Takamine GN93 CEX and play it. I can garuntee you that you won’t be disappointed. 👍
