AEW series deals with acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars made of a combination of standard and exotic or rare tonewoods. All of the models come in middle and upper middle class, instead of exclusive and boutique, which are home to a vast majority of such guitars. AEW`s mission is to prove that exotic wood guitars don`t have to cost a small fortune and can, instead, be affordable to regular players. Two new models have been introduced into this long-running series for 2016. AEW16LTD1 is one of them. It is a standard-sized AEW model with a Florentine cutaway, standard 25-1/2" scale and quite comfortable 4" body depth. AEW16LTD1 kicks off with a flat-top body made of spalted maple and walnut. Back, sides and top are made of this interesting combination. Mahogany neck counters the brightness of the maple/walnut combo, giving AEW16LTD1 a well balanced tone. Furthermore, the neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard is outfitted with 20 frets, 1.65" nut and 9.84" radius. Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup and Ibanez AEQ-STP2 preamp comprise the standard AEW series electronics unit. Compensated rosewood bridge with plastic saddle and black plastic bridge pins, and die-cast tuners keep this limited edition six-stringer in tune. They also conclude the list of major features.
