Bob Dylan`s SJ-200 Player`s Edition is one of the most exclusive acoustics ever produced by Gibson. It is based on the classic SJ-200 platform, known to the steel-string lovers as the king of the flat-tops. The royal SJ is also Mr Dylan`s favorite live and studio instrument. A short while ago, Gibson introduced the supremely exclusive Collector`s edition of this model with a price tag set around $10k. While not being exactly the working man`s Bob Dylan signature, Player`s Edition comes with a price tag of $4,999. Serious musicians and die hard fans of Bob Dylan are once again the main target. Non-cutaway SJ-200 body of this model is made of the finest specimens of flamed maple and Adirondack spruce. Flamed maple back and sides and spruce sound board are painted in seductive Vintage Sunburst and supported by scalloped X bracing under the sound board. Top, back, fingerboard and headstock are all bound in several layers of creme binding. Double pickguard introduced on the Collector`s Edition model is present on the Player`s variant, as well. L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup and it`s belonging preamp take care of the amplification duties with style and excellence expected of such a prestigious brand. Neck is made of flamed maple and features an elegant rosewood stringer in the back. Back of the neck is also fit with a rounded profile and a vintage heel. On it`s top, there`s a 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Mother-Of-Pearl Bella Voce inlays grace the vintage frets. Bound headstock is equipped with a set of 3+3 Gotoh tuners with gold plating, pearl Gibson logo and Bob Dylan`s Eye inlay.

I played a standard J-200 this afternoon. Wow! what a guitar. It sounds so much better than my fave flattop the J-45 and its variants. The Dylan one is just a little nice with the Adirondack top and extra bling. My heart is set on this guitar, let's see if my wallet follows.
