Among the four AXS dreadnoughts Dean introduces for 2016, Cutaway A/E model is the most expensive one - $219. It also offers the most - it is the only one with electronics and cutaway. AXS Dreadnought Cutaway A/E comes with a full-sized dreadnought body made of laminated mahogany and spruce. Back and sides are made of mahogany and the top is spruce (all are laminated, of course). Single-ply white binding around the back, top and fingerboard represents a beautiful contrast to the black-clad body and neck. Like the rest of the new AXS models, Cutaway A/E has no rosette around the sound hole. Mahogany neck is attached to the body at the 14th fret and features a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. White binding, jumbo-sized frets, dot inlays and plastic string nut complete the fingerboard. Dean`s own preamp with volume, bass, mid, treble and pres. controls and under-saddle pickup comprise the electronics unit. Though not on the level of some upscale Fishman, Takamine and LR Baggs systems, it still offers a decent tone and modeling possibilities. All in all, $219 will get you a good starting acoustic-electric guitar for beginners and inexperienced players. For more professional use, more expensive models are recommended.
