Masterworks series is the top of the steel-string section of the Alvarez catalog. It is only topped by the boutique-level Alvarez Yairi series (who`s models are hand-made in Japan). The current lineup has only two tiers - 66 (all-mahogany bodies, mahogany/rosewood necks) and 70 (rosewood/spruce bodies, mahogany/rosewood necks). MPA66 is a fully acoustic parlor which belongs to the 66 group. It offers an all-solid body (mahogany back, sides, top), a one-piece mahogany neck (rounded profile, 14th fret dovetail joint, semi-gloss finish), 21-fret fingerboard made of rosewood (1-3/4" bone nut, 12th fret inlay), gold-plated tuning machines, rosewood bridge (Alvarez shape, bone saddle, ebony pins), FST2M bracing system (forward shifted, scalloped X pattern). The MSRP is set at $899.
